Stacy Wood practices in the Employment & Labor group and has been defending employers and educational institutions successfully for more than 20 years, with a focus on discrimination, harassment and ERISA litigation. As a solution-oriented and pragmatic adviser, she is a problem solver for manufacturing businesses and service providers of all sizes, in addition to private colleges, universities and K-12 schools throughout North Carolina and South Carolina.

Ms. Wood works with clients in a partnership offering guidance and a practical approach to achieving their goals in a timely and cost-effective manner. She enables her clients to focus on running their business while managing their legal issues, whether it is regarding a sensitive FMLA/ADA situation, drafting an underperforming executive’s termination agreement or defending against a volatile sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit.

While attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Ms. Wood was a gymnast on a 4 year athletic scholarship, a GTE Academic All-American and the recipient of a NCAA Post-Graduate scholarship. She continues her athleticism with running marathons across the United States.

  • Wrongful discharge, retaliation, breach of contract, infliction of emotional distress and other state law claims arising out of the employment relationship

  • Transactional employment matters, including preparation of employment contracts, restrictive covenants, employee handbooks and employment policies, executive separation agreements, and employment issues relating to reductions in force

Representative Matters

  • Secured a favorable ruling from an OSHA Administrative Law Judge following a four-day trial on an issue with broad policy, operational and cost implications for a company’s nationwide service operations
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a FORTUNE100 company in a South Carolina federal court lawsuit alleging ADEA, FMLA, ERISA and breach of contract claims
  • Obtained dismissal of a sexual harassment, infliction of emotional distress and wrongful discharge claim in a North Carolina federal court against a manufacturing company and its president
  • Successfully represented a FORTUNE 200 company in the negotiation and settlement of an administrative whistleblower complaint and a companion South Carolina state court defamation lawsuit alleging blacklisting
