The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce will present Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP with a 2007 Pinnacle Business Award for companies with more than 100 employees.

“Parker Poe was recognized for this entrepreneurial company award because they have exhibited staying power, innovation and active community involvement,” said Nita Fulbright, vice president for membership services at the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.  “The firm and its individuals continue to give back to the community year after year and that sets Parker Poe apart.”

Raleigh Office Managing Partner Henry C. Campen, Jr. explains, “Individuals in our firm have long been committed to the community from public service to a variety of philanthropic, cultural and social endeavors.”  A few examples include:

  • Al Adams served five terms in the North Carolina House of Representatives and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Opera Company North Carolina
  • Catharine Biggs Arrowood serves as the 2007 President of the Wake County Bar Association and 10th Judicial Bar Association and on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Symphony
  • Russell B. Killen is a Councilman for the Town of Knightdale and serves on the Board of Directors of the Wake Education Partnership
  • Charles C. Meeker, in his third term as Mayor of Raleigh, has been a catalyst for the renaissance of downtown Raleigh

Campen continues, “We strive to create a supportive environment from which attorneys can perform best for their clients, their families and their communities.  This dedication to service fosters a strong community foundation, which in turn supports a thriving business environment.  As Raleigh has prospered into one of the best places to live and work in the country, Parker Poe has also experienced significant growth in this market.  This year alone, we were among the fastest growing firms in the state, surpassing 50 lawyers locally and providing legal counsel to even more of the area’s leading businesses.”

Winners receiving an entrepreneurial award were nominated by their peers, a committee of Chamber members, and selected by company size and continued presence in the Triangle’s business landscape.  Parker Poe was the only law firm among the five winners in this category.
