(Raleigh, N.C.)—The Chair of the North Carolina Energy Policy Council has appointed Henry Campen, a partner with the law firm Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, to its committee on Low Carbon Energy Supply - Renewables.
The Energy Policy Council (EPC) serves as the central energy policy planning body of North Carolina. State lawmakers created the EPC to advise and make recommendations on energy policy to the Governor and the General Assembly. The Council’s goal is to finalize policies for consideration by the Governor for the 2011 legislative session.
Sixteen lawmakers and energy industry leaders comprise the Council. Including renewables, it is organized into four committees:
- Low Carbon Energy Supply – Baseload
- Low Carbon Energy Supply – Renewables
- Energy Efficiency
- Low Carbon Transportation
Campen, a renewable energy attorney with Parker Poe, is among a limited number of the committee’s non-voting members. Tim Toben of Greenbridge Development and EPC Chair determined that the Council needed more wind energy expertise and asked Campen to serve on its renewable energy committee because of his work with wind energy developers.
The “Renewables Committee” will be meeting throughout the remainder of the year to develop policy recommendations for consideration by the Governor and legislators for the 2011 legislative session.
