Parker Poe Names Six New Partners

(CHARLOTTE, N.C.)—Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP announced today that six attorneys have been elected partners in the firm.

Brian S. Cromwell is an attorney in the firm’s Charlotte office. He counsels clients on white collar criminal defense, environmental crimes defense, health care fraud defense, internal investigations and SEC enforcement issues. Mr. Cromwell is admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of North Carolina. Mr. Cromwell received his JD from Fordham University and his BA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Prior to joining Parker Poe, he was both a state and federal prosecutor. Mr. Cromwell served as an Assistant District Attorney for Mecklenburg County, North Carolina and as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Department of Justice, Western District of North Carolina.

Rebecca B. Joyner is an attorney in the firm’s Raleigh office. She serves as bond counsel, underwriter’s counsel, borrower’s counsel and bank counsel in financings for cities, towns, counties, authorities, private schools, colleges and universities and other non-profit institutions across the state of North Carolina. Ms. Joyner received her JD, magna cum laude, from Fordham University, her MPA from Columbia University and her BA, with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to her legal experience, Ms. Joyner has extensive experience in municipal bond financings after six years as state lead for local credits with Moody’s Investors Service.

Jenna Kiziah McGee is an attorney in the firm’s Charleston office. She concentrates her practice on complex commercial and construction litigation. Ms. McGee represents multinational corporations, financial institutions and national and local businesses. She has experience in all stages of litigation, including trials and appeals, in state and federal courts, as well as mediation and arbitration. She received her JD, cum laude, and her BA from Duke University. Prior to joining Parker Poe, Ms. McGee practiced with an international law firm in New York in the area of business litigation with a focus on securities litigation matters. She also served as a law clerk to United States District Court Judge William H. Pauley III in the Southern District of New York.

Sam C. Moses is an attorney in the firm’s Columbia office. He represents U.S. and foreign corporations on a variety of business transactions and corporate and commercial matters. Prior to joining Parker Poe, Mr. Moses served for more than three years as managing director of a U.S. state’s European Office in Munich, Germany, assisting European investors seeking to establish operations in North America. He also previously managed a U.S. state’s export development program for Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and advised hundreds of companies on international trade issues. Mr. Moses received his JD and Master of International Business from the University of South Carolina and his BA, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina Honors College.

A-J Secrist is an attorney in the firm’s Charlotte office. She represents a variety of public and private entities in securities, merger and acquisition and general corporate matters. Ms. Secrist's practice also includes general corporate and securities advice to private investment companies. Additionally, Ms. Secrist regularly advises senior management and Boards of Directors of multi-national companies regarding enterprise risk management, including the design and implementation of universal compliance and whistleblower programs. Ms. Secrist received her JD from the University of Virginia and her BA, magna cum laude, from Tufts University. She is a member of the Parker Poe Diversity Committee.

Christopher M. Thomas is an attorney in the firm’s Raleigh office. He concentrates his practice on disputes concerning copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, patents, false advertising, unfair competition and unfair and deceptive trade practices. Mr. Thomas has extensive experience representing clients in commercial and business tort litigation, including litigation involving infringement of intellectual property rights in federal and state court litigation, before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and in proceedings before the National Arbitration Forum. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Mr. Thomas received his JD from the University of Georgia, his MBA from Georgia State University and his BA from Allegheny College.
