(CHARLOTTE, N.C.)—Crystal M. Jones, a Legal Assistant in the Charlotte office of Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, has been named a recipient of the 2013 George Williams Award by the McCrorey Family YMCA. The award recognizes key volunteers who demonstrate the mission of the YMCA and the outstanding contributions they have made through leadership and service.

In a letter to Ms. Jones, Andy Calhoun, President of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, writes, “Our George Williams Award recipients have supported our Y in numerous ways including community outreach, financial assistance and capital initiatives. Your volunteer commitment has had a direct impact on our Y and the quality of life of those we touch. I sincerely thank you for your commitment to strengthening the foundations of our community.”

Ms. Jones has volunteered at the McCrorey YMCA for more than eight years. She’s currently serving a second term as the Vice Chair of the Board of Managers. She also serves as the Program Chair for the 19th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast and as a member of the Titus L. Ivory Sr. Memorial Golf Tournament committee. Ms. Jones previously held the role of Co-Chair of the Board’s Fund Development Committee from 2010-2012.

“Crystal has worked tirelessly and passionately to create opportunities for children and families in Charlotte’s Northwest Corridor,” said Aretha Blake, past Chair of the McCrorey YMCA Board of Managers. “As a key member of the planning committee of McCrorey’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast, Co-Chair of the Fund Development Committee and branch Vice Chair, Crystal has shown tremendous creativity with respect to achieving the branch’s fundraising and membership goals. Crystal has been a true inspiration to me and the many others she has served and worked with over the past eight years.”

Ms. Jones works in the Firm’s Employment & Benefits Practice Group, where she supports the daily activities of the group’s Practice Leader and several other attorneys. She also provides administrative support to Parker Poe’s Chief Talent Officer and Director of Diversity, and helps plan and manage major client and community events, including Parker Poe’s Life in a Law Firm annual program for minority law students. In addition, Ms. Jones is continually asked to serve on important firm committees, and is currently a member of the Parker Poe Diversity Committee and the Combined Charitable Giving Committee.
