(RALEIGH, N.C.) — Christopher Thomas and Catharine Arrowood, Partners in Parker Poe’s Raleigh office, were recently featured in a NC Lawyers Weekly article for obtaining a favorable outcome in trial for their clients.

SMD Software, Inc. and SiteLink Software, LLC sued eMove, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of U-Haul International, Inc., for false advertising in May 2008. Ms. Arrowood was asked to consult several years after the case was filed.

She and Mr. Thomas assisted with pretrial motions, trial preparation and the trial itself and after a three-week trial, the jury found that the defendants had committed false advertising in violation of the North Carolina Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act and awarded the plaintiffs $1.7 million in damages.
