Charlotte, NC— Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, a business law firm with seven offices across the Southeast, recently announced that Bruce Thompson, head of the firm’s Government and Public Policy Group, was selected to serve on the Democratic National Convention Drafting Committee. The committee is responsible for the development, approval and management of the party’s platform.

“On Election Day this year, Americans will make a choice about the direction of our economic, education, and foreign policy, among many other issues,” said Thompson. “I am honored to serve on this committee and look forward to working to create a platform that is representative of the American public and is inclusive and open to all.”

Thompson currently serves on the National Finance Committee for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.  He served as an advisor to Secretary Clinton’s campaign during the March primary in North Carolina and continues in that role for the general election. In the past, he has served as legal counsel to Senator Kay Hagan during her campaign and advised the North Carolina campaign of President Barack Obama for the 2008 general election.

Recognized as one of the state’s most influential lobbyists and political influencers, Thompson concentrates his practice in government and regulatory activities. He was named one of the top 10 political influencers from North Carolina in the 2013 Campaigns & Elections magazine’s “Influencers 500” list.

The committee will meet in Orlando, Florida, on July 9-10 and again before the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on July 25-28.
