Parker Poe Attorneys Honored with CREW Deal of the Year Award

Charlotte, NC – Wanda Townsend and Brian Koontz, Partners in Parker Poe’s Charlotte office, were recently honored by CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Charlotte with the Deal of the Year Award. The deal included a loan closing team behind the refinancing of the Johnston Allison & Hord building in Charlotte. A number of CREW members were selected to be part of the team including Wanda and Brian who were selected by the bank to provide legal counsel. Additional team members included Marie McLucas, chief financial officer of Primax Properties, Charles Lyle of South State Bank, Jane Barkley and Dawn Royle of Investors Title and Carol Fortenberry of Fortenberry Lambert, Inc.

Wanda Townsend practices in the firm’s Banking & Capital Markets group with a focus on commercial real estate. Wanda represents financial institutions in commercial real estate loans including construction loans, term financing, and revolving credit facilities. Wanda works with commercial real estate developers in purchasing, developing, financing, leasing and the sale of real estate. Wanda also works with businesses and health care entities on their corporate transactional work. Wanda received both her JD and BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Brian Koontz’s practice focuses on commercial lending, commercial real estate, and corporate law. Mr. Koontz has represented financial institutions and borrowers in a variety of financing transactions, including construction loans, term loans, lines of credit, acquisition and development loans, and asset-based loans. Brian received his JD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his BA from Wheaton College.
