Charleston, SC – Robert “Bobby” Byrd, Parker Poe’s Charleston office managing partner, was recently elected to the Charleston Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors. Mr. Byrd has been actively involved with the Charleston Habitat organization for a year.
Charleston Habitat for Humanity is a part of the global, nonprofit housing organization, Habitat for Humanity International. Mr. Byrd and other members of the organization are dedicated to providing affordable housing opportunities for working families in the Charleston area through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes.
“It is a wonderful organization, and it’s been a lot of fun for me to be a part of it; particularly being able to interact with the families we are building for,” says Mr. Byrd. Since its establishment in 1989, Charleston Habitat for Humanity has built 82 new homes - three of which Mr. Byrd has contributed to constructing.
While construction fills much of his philanthropic time, Mr. Byrd focuses his legal practice on commercial litigation and bankruptcy, reorganization and creditors’ rights. He has over 31 years of experience representing national and community banks and commercial finance companies, and also handles real estate litigation matters and real property dispute resolution.
