Raleigh, N.C. – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Charles Meeker is serving as chair of the board of directors for Oak City Cares, a new homeless resource hub and intake center in downtown Raleigh.
Charles also co-chaired Oak City Cares’ successful $2.5 million capital campaign that concluded last year, which funded the furnishings and first three years of operating expenses for the nonprofit’s new center. The center is the culmination of several years of collaborative efforts between the City of Raleigh, Wake County, the Partnership to End and Prevent Homelessness, and Catholic Charities. It connects the homeless and people at risk of becoming homeless to an array of services related to housing, economic, medical, and employment assistance.
Charles is a former five-term mayor of Raleigh. He also serves on the board of directors for the North Carolina Coastal Federation and the advisory board for the North Carolina State University College of Natural Resources. At Parker Poe, Charles represents private and public clients, including local governments, in civil trials and administrative hearings.
