Sarah Hutchins, Robert Botkin, and Andy Tabeling presented at Parker Poe's Carolinas Business Litigation Year in Review. Their panel provided an overview of state and federal data privacy regulations, the need for a business to have a data privacy policy, and the importance of the various departments of a business, including legal, IT, and marketing, to communicate about best practices related to the storage and use of consumer data. Sarah, Robert, and Andy discussed the risks involved in not communicating about privacy, including enforcement actions taken by regulators.
The Carolinas Business Litigation Year in Review in Charlotte also included Parker Poe attorneys providing a review of significant business cases from 2023, privilege issues in North Carolina, and updates on noncompetes and no-poach agreements. Attorneys also held a question-and-answer session with a retired business court judge.
