Katon Dawson’s practice primarily focuses on commercial, construction, and health care litigation. He has experience assisting clients with issues related to product warranties, surety bonds, and mechanics’ liens. He also has experience litigating contractual disputes, class action claims, and personal injury claims. He has been involved in appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the South Carolina Supreme Court, and the South Carolina Court of Appeals.
Prior to joining Parker Poe, he was an associate at Dawson Public Affairs Inc. While working for Dawson Public Affairs, Katon advised clients on campaign, political, and business issues. Additionally, he assisted in the management of 501(c)(4) organizations, political action committees, and South Carolina nonprofit corporations.
Katon also served as a law clerk to the Honorable H. Bruce Williams. While clerking for Judge Williams, he was responsible for handling cases from the initial review of appellate briefs and records through the drafting of final opinions. Katon was also an intern for the South Carolina Department of Commerce European Office in Munich, Germany.
Katon received his law degree and international MBA from the University of South Carolina. In law school, he was on the editorial staff of the Journal of Law and Education, a member of the Moot Court Bar, and the recipient of the CALI award for his criminal law class.
