Overview
Parker Poe opened its Columbia office in 1996 to meet the needs of South Carolina's capital city. Today, a variety of business and government clients rely on our Columbia attorneys for legal services, including in the areas of public finance, health care, construction, economic development, and litigation.
The Columbia metro area is home to more than 840,000 residents, according to census data. It is also home to several colleges and universities, including state's flagship university – the University of South Carolina – as well as Columbia College and South University.
The area offers a variety of recreational activities, such as boating, hiking, and canoeing, as well as cultural opportunities, including music, theater, art, and dance. Columbia's Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Gardens consistently rank among the top 10 zoological parks in the United States. Lake Murray, with its 50,000 acres of water, provides outdoor recreation to residents and visitors just northwest of the city.
Other points of interest include the South Carolina State Museum, the Columbia Museum of Art, and the Congaree National Park, which features 25 miles of hiking trails, including the last significant tract of old-growth hardwood forest in the United States.
