eDiscovery & Information Governance

Overview

Our clients live in an increasingly digital world, where the flow of business demands the use of technology to exchange information and meet goals. In turn, this has vastly increased the volume of electronic data generated and stored by businesses.

Parker Poe’s experienced eDiscovery & Information Governance Team understands how to identify, preserve, collect, and manage this data to solve discovery challenges in litigation, investigations, and audits. We use this experience to navigate discovery challenges and control our clients’ costs. Through cutting-edge technology tools such as Relativity One and a team of legal technology professionals led by a former in-house discovery counsel for a Fortune 500 company, Parker Poe affords our clients the scalability of reviewing millions of documents across most any geography.

We bring our firm’s deep litigation and investigation experience to bear in assisting a variety of clients across industries, from global corporations to large and small businesses to private individuals. Since discovery is often a source of unexpected litigation expense and risk in terms of data preservation, we start by working with clients to understand their data environment, including any analytical tools or artificial intelligence (AI) solutions already in place, as part of our firm’s overall assessment for preservation and collection purposes. By tailoring our services to each client, we can best advise on identifying the highest areas of legal risks related to each client’s electronically stored information (ESI).

We assist clients with collecting ESI from sources such as Microsoft Office 365, messaging services, cell phones, third-party webmail and document storage, social media applications, and cloud and legacy databases. By culling data, we evaluate ESI for content and context, including key patterns, topics, people, and discussion as well as reduce the volume of ESI.

Our team is skilled in advising clients on proactively avoiding risk through litigation preparedness counseling. We offer regular checks on clients’ discovery, records management, and information governance programs, and assist with a wide range of compliance policies, including mobile device and social media policies. Our team is also experienced at building eDiscovery programs or making changes to existing programs in order to reduce costs and bolster defensibility.

Our team has earned certifications from ACEDS, the global leader in training and certification in eDiscovery. Those certifications include both Certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS) and the eDiscovery Executive Certificate (eDEx).
