Overview
Parker Poe opened a Charleston office in 2004 to meet the needs of the thriving business community in what was then South Carolina's second-largest city. Today, it is the state's largest city, and the tri-county area of Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties has approximately 800,000 residents and is among the fastest growing parts of the U.S., according to census data.
Reasonable business costs, a thriving local economy, beautiful surroundings, comfortable climate, and high quality of life put Charleston among the top on the list for today's cutting-edge companies. Since 1995, new and expanding businesses have invested more than $5 billion in the area. The Port of Charleston is a top-10 U.S. container port and has been growing more than twice as fast as the national average.
The region also boasts a multibillion-dollar visitor industry, one of the Southeast's most impressive medical hubs, and a well-established base of national and international manufacturers. In addition, historic homes, museums, fine restaurants, sandy beaches, and numerous recreational opportunities are abundant in and around Charleston.
Since 1993, Charleston has been frequently named as one of the top-10 travel destinations in the U.S. by Condé Nast Traveler magazine. Charleston has also often topped an unofficial list of the best-mannered cities in the United States.
